Planning an event

Join 'Let's Talk,' our community consultation platform. Stay informed, engage in discussions, and play a role in shaping the future of our municipality.

Our Community Directory provides information about a wide range of community organisations, services, groups and clubs.

Community groups can create a free directory listing and have the opportunity to promote community events on our website.

If you are a community or not-for-profit group planning on selling food as a fundraiser and:

• people handling the food are mostly volunteers
• the food handling activity will take place at the premises for no more than two consecutive days at any one time

You must ensure that the food you sell is safe to consume and your food activities must be registered or notified with Council.

Grants Hub

Council has an online Grants Hub that provides a comprehensive list of all grant and funding opportunities available Australia wide! This Hub is free for all businesses, community groups and not-for-profits located in our council area.

Council grants

Our Community Grants Program help community groups and organisations to carry out a wide range of projects and activities throughout our municipality.

Government grants

The Community Grants Hub serves as a centralised platform, listing of grants offered by Australian Government client agencies.

Any organisation who wants to upgrade existing facilities, construct new facilities or landscape on Council owned land must seek Land Owners Consent prior to commencing any works.

Community Plans

The Swan Hill Rural City Council supports communities in the Swan Hill Municipality who wish to develop their own Community Plans. Community Planning is a process that is ‘owned’ by the community with Council available to play a facilitation role. Community Plans provide invaluable input into Local, State and Federal Government planning.

Community Planning is integral to our Council's operations, as emphasised in our Council Plan. It empowers community members by providing a collective voice and the platform to propose projects they deem significant.

This process not only informs Council about community preferences but also fosters greater community engagement.

Plans are overseen by dedicated community groups and volunteers responsible for project implementation.

Recreation Reserves Masterplan

Council partnered with the State Government to fund a study to seek recommendations on the future development of nine recreation reserves in the Swan Hill municipality.

This project involved the development of Master Plans for the following Recreation Reserves:

• Showgrounds Recreation Reserve
• Alan Garden Reserve
• Robinvale Riverside Park
• Lake Boga Recreation Reserve
• Ultima Recreation Reserve
• Manangatang Recreation Reserve
• Ken Harrison Sporting Complex
• Gurnett Oval
• Nyah Recreation Reserve

The study will provide Council with clear strategic direction for the future provision of sporting facilities over the next ten years. Community and User Groups were consulted to develop a list of key recommendations, then prioritised as a Key Project, High, Medium or low project. 159 key recommendations were identified, with 34 of them being identified as Key Projects for delivery.
