Container Deposit Scheme

The Victorian State Government’s Container Deposit Scheme has arrived in Swan Hill and Robinvale.

The Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) rewards consumers with a 10-cent refund for every eligible drink container that they return.

CDS Vic will provide shared benefits to the community, environment and economy by delivering:

  • more and better recycling
  • less waste - old containers become new ones
  • less litter - cut by up to half
  • hundreds of new jobs and economic opportunities across Victoria
  • a cleaner, greener state. 

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3

Step 1.Collect eligible drink containers

  • Check for the 10c mark
  • Most aluminium, glass, plastic and liquid paperboard (carton) drink containers between 150mL and 3 litres are eligible
  • You can keep the lids they can be recycled also

Step 2.Find your refund point 

Check the interactive CDS map for Victorian locations.

Step 3.Earn or donate your refund

Download the CDS North App to receive your refund. You can choose between:

  • payments into your bank account
  • a voucher to use at a local supermarket or
  • donate your refund to a charity
