Private building surveyors - online lodgement

The Building Regulations require building surveyors to lodge all building permits with the relevant Council within seven days of issue.

What you can lodge via the portal

Section 80

A private building surveyor must, within 7 days after accepting an appointment under this Part, notify the relevant council in writing of the appointment and the building or building work in respect of which the private building surveyor is appointed.

Section 30

The relevant building surveyor, within 7 days after issuing any building permit under this Part, must give to the relevant council a copy of that permit and any plans and other documents lodged with the application for the permit.

Section 73

The relevant building surveyor, within 7 days after issuing any occupancy permit or temporary approval or amending any permit or approval under this Part, must give to the relevant council a copy of that permit or approval or amendment and any plans and other documents lodged with the application for the permit or approval or amendment.

Step 1.Set up an account on the online portal

If you don't already have an account you can create one.

Log into the building portal

Step 2.Apply for a Section 80

The Section 80 must be completed first

  • complete all the details for a section 80
  • submit your application
  • you can now proceed to lodge a Section 30 

Step 3.Lodge Section 30

  • select 'My Applications / Retrieve Existing Applications'
  • find the Section 80 you previously lodged and open the application
  • select 'Lodge Section 30'
  • complete all the details for a section 30 
  • pay the fee, please note we can not accept Diners Club or American Express.

Step 4.Lodge Section 73

  • select 'My Applications / Retrieve Existing Applications'
  • find the Section 30 you previously lodged and open the application
  • select 'Lodge Section 73'
  • complete all the details for a section 73
