Accessible parking permits

Accessible Parking Permits give parking concessions to those with impaired mobility.

There are three types of Accessible Parking Permits available to Victorian residents:

  • An Australian Disability Parking (ADP) Permit (for individuals)
  • A Victorian Double Time Permit (for individuals)
  • An Australian Disability Parking (ADP) Permit (for organisations)

Permit Expiration

  • Long term permits last for 5 years
  • Short term permits can last 6 months, one year or two years
  • Organisational permits can last for a maximum of 12 months

How to apply or renew

Step 1.Complete the online form

You can apply for a permit or renew a permit on the Transport Victoria website.

Apply or renew a permit

Step 2.Note your reference number

You will receive a reference number via SMS to the mobile number you used in your application. You will need to provide this reference number to your doctor or occupational therapist.

Step 3.Visit your doctor or occupational therapist

Take your reference number with you to your appointment

Note: This step is not required if you’re applying on behalf of an organisation

Step 4.Your doctor will complete the application

Your general practitioner or occupational therapist will complete an online assessment and submit your application to VicRoads.

Step 5.Council reviews the application

Council will then review the application to confirm you live within the municipality.

Step 6.Receive your permit

If your application is successful, your permit will be mailed to you directly from Transport Victoria.

Alternatively, during your application you can select to pick it up from Council.

Note: It can take 10-15 days after your assessment to receive the outcome.

Help with your application

If you have questions about how to apply for a permit, the changes to the parking scheme, or you would like to dispute the outcome of an application, read the Frequently Asked Questions on the Transport Victoria website.

If you believe you have been incorrectly assessed, you can get a second opinion. Start a new application and take your new reference number to another doctor or occupational therapist.

Replacing an existing permit

If you have lost your permit, you will need to:

  1. Apply for a replacement on the Transport Victoria website
  2. Provide a statutory declaration when collecting your permit from Council.
