Report wandering animals or livestock

Animals wandering at large can be a danger to themselves, other animals and members of the public.  A pet getting out can also be a cause for great concern and anxiety for the owner and their family. 

How to make a report

Phone

Step 1.Contain the animal (if possible)

Containing the animal will make it easier for the Officer to collect it.

Step 2.Call Council

During business hours call 03 5036 2333.

After-hours emergencies (dog attacks or livestock on roads) call 03 5032 0322.

If you find a wandering animal outside of business hours, please contact the Council during business hours to arrange collection.

Step 3.We will request

  • Where you found the animal
  • Description of the animal (gender, breed, colour)
  • Any distinguishable features

In person
