Apply for a land information certificate

If you are buying or selling a property, you can get a land information certificate from Council. 

A land information certificate provides information including:

  • all current valuations
  • rates – including arrears and interest
  • property debts
  • orders and notices made under the Local Government Act or the Local Law
  • special charges (if any)

Please note: anyone can apply for a land information certificate. However, if you are using a legal practitioner or conveyancer, they will apply for you.

How to apply

In person

Step 1.Download the application form

Step 2.Gather your supporting documents

Your application must be returned with

  • a current copy of your certificate of title
  • a copy of the title plan

Step 3.Return your completed application to

Step 4.Pay the application fee

Pay with cash, cheque, money order, EFTPOS, Mastercard or Visa. Please note we do not accept Diners Club and American Express.

Payable to "Swan Hill Rural Council" and crossed "Not Negotiable".

What happens next?

Your certificate will be emailed to you within five business days.
