Boundary Bend – Kooloonong Road Reconstruction

  • Project typeReconstruction
  • Project scheduleForecasted completion date - September 2024

This project involves the reconstruction of a 2.09 km section of Boundary Bend–Kooloonong Road, from chainage 9.62 to chainage 11.71, to meet current Australian Standards and accommodate the increasing heavy vehicle and machinery traffic generated by the region's expanding almond industry and other agricultural activities.

The road will be widened from 3.9 meters to 6.2 meters in compliance with the Infrastructure Design Manual and heavy vehicle requirements, ensuring it meets the service needs of the local economy and improves transport safety. The reconstructed road will align with standards such as the Austroads Guide, VicRoads Standards, and the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), supporting accessibility and long-term infrastructure sustainability.

This project addresses critical infrastructure needs outlined in the Community Vision and Council Plan 2021–2025, the Local Road Investment Prospectus, and the Freight Road Network Mapping and Infrastructure Investment study. By enhancing the transport network, it will support local industries, particularly the thriving almond sector, which contributes significantly to the North West region's economy. This initiative demonstrates Council’s commitment to improving road safety, supporting economic growth, and delivering responsive infrastructure for the community.
