Swan Hill Rural City Council’s YouthInc team are excited to announce that the Lake Boga Bank 2 Bank will be returning again in 2024, set to take place on Sunday, 8 December at the Lake Boga.

Youth Support Coordinator, Will Burns said the Bank 2 Bank event brings the community together for a day of fun, fitness, and camaraderie, with activities suitable for all ages and abilities.

“The team at YouthInc are proud to be supporting this event, that is run locally by Father and Daughter duo, Kendall and Arlie Atkinson”.

The inaugural event took place in 2021, which was the first official Bank 2 Bank Swim event. Prior to this, Kendall and Arlie had taken on the challenge to swim the length of Lake Boga every year since 2014 with more and more swimmers joining them each year. They both still take part in the swim event on the day, but now they get to share the experience with even more people who are wanting to tackle the challenge as well.

The day features three events: the feature event, a 3.1km Bank 2 Bank Swim, a swim across Lake Boga offering a challenge to seasoned swimmers; plus two other options including the 5km Run/Walk, a fun and inclusive activity along the shoreline for all fitness levels; and the 200m Swim Around the Buoy, a short-distance swim perfect for those looking for a fun and quick challenge.

“In addition to these events, spectators can observe the efforts of swimmers and runners from the Lake Boga foreshore, enjoying food and drink and getting involved in the atmosphere. There is also the opportunity for locals to volunteer as a support paddler for those swimmers who are unable to lock in one themselves. This is a great way for people to feel involved and paddle from Bank 2 Bank across Lake Boga”

“There are also Saturday Morning Swim Training sessions on the Saturday’s leading up to the event offering participants the opportunity to experience open water swimming and increase their confidence. To cap off the weekend, a Saturday Social Dinner will be held at Lake Boga Waterski Club on December 7 for all participants and their families.”

“There’s some great prizes on offer too. There is a cash prize pool of $1400 across the 3.1km Bank 2 Bank Swim and the 5km Run event” Mr Burns added.

Mr Burns said YouthInc are proud to support this fantastic event as it not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also fosters a sense of community and connection among residents.
