Published on 24 January 2025
William Alexander, a previous participant in Swan Hill Regional Libraries' initiative, Loud @ the Library, has been nominated for two Golden Guitar Awards at the 53rd Country Music Awards of Australia.
Swan Hill Regional Libraries Manager, Camille Cullinan, expressed how proud the team at the library is of William and his journey, which all began at the Loud @ the Library event in Swan Hill.
"William made his singing debut at Loud @ the Library, and it’s been a real thrill to watch his journey unfold. Knowing that this event provided him with the platform to be discovered is such an honour," said Ms. Cullinan.
William joins headline acts such as Troy Cassar-Daley and Colin Buchanan on this year's Country Music Awards of Australia nomination list. His album, The Singing Stockman, has been nominated for two awards: 'Traditional Country Album of the Year' and 'Toyota Album of the Year'.
Loud @ the Library, started in 2011, and through the years, a number of local youth have emerged from this event. “William is joined by talented local artists such as Sophie and Emma Kelly, Lachie Dunn, Shannon Bishop, Callum McNab, Deaken Fawcett, and Bonnie Rovere, among many others, who have used Loud at the Library as a stepping stone to successful music careers,” added Ms Cullinan.
Loud @ the Library will be held at the Swan Hill Library on Friday, 28 March, from 7pm. Local singers, dancers, and musicians aged 12 to 25 are encouraged to register. Registrations close on Wednesday, 19 March.
“We wish William all the very best for his nominations in the Country Music Awards of Australia, which will take place on Saturday, 25 January at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre. We hope his success inspires the talented youth in our region to participate in this year's Loud @ the Library event,” said Ms. Cullinan.
