Swan Hill Rural City Council is eagerly preparing to welcome the Country Week Tennis tournament next month.
Swan Hill Lawn Tennis Club was originally formed in 1910 from the humble beginnings of one asphalt court and has grown into the largest lawn tennis club in the world, boasting 51 permanent grass and 4 hard courts in the one complex.
Mayor Cr Stuart King said the Council was delighted that Swan Hill had been selected to host this prestigious event.
“Country Week Tennis is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our beautiful region while delivering a significant boost to our local economy.
“With over 1,200 participants, this event is the largest grassroots tennis tournament in Australia. It’s great for our town, with local accommodation facilities filled and hospitality venues thriving. The event is expected to inject up to $1.5 million into the local economy,” Cr King said.
Cr King said the tournament also provides a unique chance to showcase Swan Hill and the many attractions we have to offer.
“We look forward to welcoming players and visitors and encouraging them to explore our wonderful municipality,” he added.
Cr King commended members of the Swan Hill Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and all the local volunteers for their vital role in securing this event and the immense effort involved in its preparation.
“I congratulate our local members for their outstanding reputation for fostering strong community partnerships and successfully hosting previous Country Week tournaments. Their hard work and unwavering dedication are truly commendable,” Cr King said.
Country Week Tennis 2025 will take place from Sunday, 9 February to Friday, 14 February 2025, and promises to be an unforgettable week for players and spectators alike.
