Swan Hill Rural City Council welcomed six new citizens to the municipality at the spring citizenship ceremony this afternoon.

Council’s Mayor, Cr Stuart King, shared that welcoming our newest citizens to the municipality is not just a duty, but one of the most rewarding aspects of his role.

“It is an honour to participate in the final stage of an individual's journey to becoming an Australian Citizen.”

Swan Hill Rural City Council hosts citizenship ceremonies throughout the year, and they’re an opportunity for every Australian citizen to reflect on how lucky we all are to call Australia home.

“When we welcome new citizens from all over the world to our country, we receive so much – their skills, talents, and commitment to belonging to our great nation,” said Cr King.

This year is significant as it commemorates the 75th anniversary of Australian citizenship, providing an opportunity to honour and celebrate the valuable contributions of each new citizen to our nation.
