Swan Hill Rural City Council is pleased to announce enhancements to the disabled parking area on McCallum Street in Swan Hill.

Council’s Director of Infrastructure, Leah Johnston, said the upgrade was part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to improving accessibility and inclusivity for all community members.

“Starting Monday, September 2, 2024, work will commence to enhance the parking facility, aiming to provide greater access and convenience for individuals with disabilities.

“This project will improve disabled car parking and access in front of business from 33-43 McCallum Street, following feedback from residents.

“Improvements will include better line markings for both standard and disabled parking spaces, the creation of a shared area with bollards, and the installation of appropriate signage to ensure the car park meets the highest accessibility standards.

“We understand that these upgrades may cause some temporary disruptions, and we apologise for any inconvenience.

“We appreciate the community’s patience as we work to complete these crucial improvements,” Ms Johnston said.

Ms Johnston highlighted that the long-term benefits of the project will result in more accessible and user-friendly car parking for individuals with mobility challenges.

“Council is committed to making Swan Hill a more inclusive place for everyone, and this upgrade represents a significant step toward achieving that goal,” she added.
