Are you a keen photographer aged 12-18 years? In partnership with Novo Youth Council, Imogen Photography, and Youth Inc., Swan Hill Regional Library invites local youth to showcase their talent in the Youthspective Photography Competition.

Entrants can submit up to three original photographs that best fit this year's theme, "Contrast."

Libraries Manager Camille Cullinan explained that the theme aims to encourage local youth to explore the concept of being strikingly different from something else in close association or juxtaposed.

"We're challenging entrants to think creatively and allow their imaginations to thrive in our surroundings.  For example, capturing a bright figure against a gloomy background,”

"Photographs must be original and unedited, offering endless opportunities for capturing authentic and original statements of “Contrast” " Ms Cullinan states.

There are two age categories, each with two prizes to be won.

  • 12-14 years old:
  • Judges Choice Award of $100
  • People’s Choice Award of $50
  • 15-18 years old:
  • Judges Choice Award of $200
  • People’s Choice Award of $50

Ms Cullinan encourages local youth to have fun while capturing their interpretation of “Contrast” and submitting their best work to the competition.

“Entries close at 5pm on Friday 6 September 2024, and can be submitted to library@swanhill.vic.gov.au,” explained Ms Cullinan.

This competition is part of the upcoming Swan Hill Youth Arts Festival, set to take place on Saturday 26 October 2024.
