Swan Hill Rural City Council wishes to advise that a planning permit application has been lodged seeking approval for the partial demolition of the Robinvale Hotel.
Council’s Director Development and Planning, Michelle Grainger said a permit is required due to the site being subject to a Heritage Overlay (HO99), as the building is of local significance.
“The application, submitted late last year, proposes the partial demolition of the Robinvale Hotel while retaining the bottleshop. The application was accompanied by an engineering report, and additional information was requested, including a heritage assessment report, which has now been submitted,” she said.
Ms. Grainger said that advertising for the application began on 10 March 2025, following the requirements of the Planning & Environment Act 1987.
“While the advertising period of 14 days ended on 24 March 2025, Council is required to consider any objections it receives up until the date it makes a decision. This means you can still lodge an objection, it must be in writing and it must include the reasons for the objection; and how you would be affected.
“Council plans to make a decision at its Council Meeting on 20 May 2025, meaning that objections can be lodged up until that date.
“Given the historical and community significance of the Robinvale Hotel, the application is expected to generate strong public interest. Community members are encouraged to review the details and provide their feedback,” she said.
