Residents of Swan Hill Rural City Council were spoilt for choice with an array of interesting and meaningful events this past long weekend.

Blessed with abundant sunshine and an extra day off, residents had the opportunity to attend award and citizenship ceremonies in both Robinvale and Swan Hill on Saturday, participate in community and cultural gatherings on Sunday, or join local events organised by smaller towns.

Mayor Cr Stuart King was delighted by the weekend’s events, describing them as warm and inviting – a true celebration of what it means to be Australian.

“I had the privilege of attending a number of events over the weekend, and it was absolutely wonderful to see everyone coming together to celebrate the amazing country in which we live,” Cr King said.

“From welcoming our newest citizens, recognising the dedication of current citizens, and celebrating our rich and shared history, it really highlighted to me what a diverse and passionate municipality we live in, one that I am extremely grateful to be a part of,” he added.

He also acknowledged the significant volunteer effort that went into making these events successful, extending his gratitude to the community for an outstanding weekend.

Council is dedicated to ensuring our events meet the needs of our community. We are now seeking your feedback to help shape future events. Please share your thoughts on our Let’s Talk page by visiting - https://letstalk.swanhill.vic.gov.au/australia-day-2025
