Michael J. Holmes Park is a charming community space perfect for relaxation and play. This park features a lush grassy area ideal for picnics, casual sports, or simply enjoying the outdoors. Children will delight in the hopscotch area, providing a fun and engaging activity.

Michael J Holmes was born at Kapunda, South Australia on 31 May 1867, his father being one of the first seafaring men to settle in the state

Mr Homes came to Victoria by bullock team and wagon in 1888 and selected Mallee scrub land at Kunat (20 miles South West of Swan Hill off the Quambatook Road) which he cleared for a wheat farm.

He married Margaret Sims in 1896 and they lived in Kunat with their 8 children until 1937 when they retired to 14 Wilson Street, Swan Hill.  Mr Holmes had purchased several blocks of land in Wilson Street and prior to his death on 24 July 1944, he donated one of these blocks (now 22 Wilson Street to the Borough Council for a children's playground.  Late 1981 the Council sold this block and his 5 remaining daughters requested that a Children's playground be erected in close proximity to Wilson Street.  This park was then established.
