Becoming a Councillor is a great opportunity to represent your community and take an active role in shaping the health, wellbeing, culture, environment, biodiversity and economic success of our municipality.

Before you nominate for Council, it’s important to understand what the role involves.

In partnership with Council, the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) will deliver an information sessions for prospective candidates. This session can be attended in-person or online.

The sessions will include information about:

  • local government and the important role councils play for our local communities
  • the role and responsibility of a Councillor, Mayor, Deputy Mayor and CEO
  • the election process and candidate requirements
  • what newly elected councillors can expect soon after the elections
  • councillor training and development opportunities.

Loddon Campaspe Mallee Session:
(includes the following councils: Swan Hill, Bendigo, Mount Alexander, Macedon Ranges, Central Goldfields, Campaspe, Loddon, Buloke, Gannawarra, Mildura)

In-person check in: 6:00pm – 6:30pm
Session Time: 6:30pm – 8:30pm

Please note that there are capacity limits for in-person attendance and only those that have registered to secure a place will be able to attend. There will be no registration available on the day of the sessions.
