Introducing 2019 Youth Arts Festival Ambassadors

Will Garvie and Toni Mia Scalora have been announced as ambassadors for Swan Hill’s Youth Arts Festival 2019.

Youth Arts Festival is an annual one day event celebrating the talents of young people in our community.

This year it will take place on Saturday, 26 October in Swan Hill’s Campbell Street. The Festival will feature live performances and open art spaces for talented young people.

Will and Toni Mia each submitted an application to be an Ambassador and attended an interview, and according to Swan Hill Rural City Council’s Youth Support Officer Will Burns, it was clear they were the right people for the job.

“During the interviews, you could see how passionate and eager these two were to have this opportunity,” he said.

Ambassador Toni Mia said she was passionate about lifting the confidence of young talent in our community.

“I feel privileged to have been selected as an ambassador for this event. Youth Arts Festival gives young people the opportunity to be encouraged and appreciated,” she said.

Ambassador Will Garvie said the event provided a platform to give young artists the “recognition and acknowledgment they deserve”.

“We hope to encourage people to come and join us on the day, and help celebrate the arts of young people in our community,” he said.

Swan Hill District Health is a partner in the Youth Arts Festival and Health Promotion Officer Jo Culross said the committee was looking for more members to join.

“This year there will be exciting new additions to Youth Arts Festival and we are looking for more young people to get involved,” she said.
