Tradies – learn about doing business with Council

Tradies and contractors – learn more about how you can do business with Swan Hill Rural City Council at information sessions this June.

The sessions will cover a new pre-qualification system for contractors. Contractors will have to be registered through this Council system before starting any Council work.

We’ll also touch on the different ways to get work with Council, how Council evaluates tenders and submissions, and how to find out about projects and works with Council.

“Every year, Council sources millions of dollars worth of goods and services through tenders, quotes and expressions of interest,” Corporate Services Director David Lenton said.

“During evaluation, we look at how engaging a contractor will benefit the local community, so it is important to us that local contractors are informed about this new pre-qualification system and about the process of getting work with Council.”

Mr Lenton said Council was obliged to make sure contractors had appropriate skills and training, accreditation, licences and insurance, and had all their OHS requirements in place

“The new pre-qualification system will make sure these obligations are met, to ensure that all licences, insurances and safety systems are up to date. The system is already in place at other councils and water authorities in our region,” he said.

All contractors will soon receive an email from Council inviting them to register for pre-qualification.
Contractors can also request to register through our website at any time.

“Once the registration is complete and verified, Council will include the contractor on our Pre-qualified Contractor Database. This doesn’t guarantee a contractor will get work with Council, but contractors must be on this list before they can work for Council.”
