Swan Hill Rural City Councillors will be coming to a town near you with their new initiative – Coffee with a Councillor.
Steering away from the formality of Council meetings and information sessions, Councillors will travel to different locations around our region to sit down and have an informal chat with locals.
Mayor Ann Young said Coffee with a Councillor was about keeping the lines of communication open.
“As Councillors, we’re elected by our community for our community,” Councillor Young said.
“But for us to be the voice of our residents, we need to hear our residents’ voices.
“We want to hear your ideas and your concerns, we want you to be involved in decisions and consulted about projects, and we want you to tell us what’s important to you.
“And we’ll shout you a coffee while we do it.”
The first Coffee with a Councillor will be held in Swan Hill on Sunday, 19 May at Café 202 from 10am until 12pm.
The following week, on Friday, 24 May, Councillors will host a barbecue instead of coffee, in Perrin Street, Robinvale (outside Bargain Basement) between 11am and 1pm.
Catch ups will also be held at local cafes and community markets in Lake Boga, Ultima, Wemen, Nyah, Boundary Bend, Beverford, Piangil, Woorinen South and Manangatang. Keep an eye on local media for details of upcoming events.
