Celebrating Library and Information Week – 21 to 26 May
For their new book ‘Impact: The Ripple Effect of Murder, true crime authors Ruth Wykes and Kylie Fox interviewed 10 professionals including police and paramedics, about how cases like that of Maria Korp, the Mornington Monster, Bandali Debs, the Bali bombing and Black Saturday had affected them personally.
Join us to hear Ruth talk about how Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) plays a part in the lives of the people involved, as well as alcohol and drug abuse, mental health problems, relationship breakdowns, fear and hyper vigilance in ordinary situations.
Ruth Wykes is a co-author of two true collections: Women Who Kill (written with Lindy Cameron in 2011) and Invisible Women: Powerful and Disturbing Stories of Murdered Sex Workers (written with Kylie Fox in 2016).
In 2016 Ruth won the Scarlet Stiletto First Prize and Great Film Idea Award for her short story, ‘Stone Cold’. She lives on the Mornington Peninsula and works as an editor and mentor to emerging writers.
Book signing will be available on the night, with books available for sale for $25. Light refreshments provided.
