A message from the Mayor

Thank you to the 217 community members who filled out the online survey about a potential off-leash dog park for Swan Hill.

Officers are now analysing the results and if there is enough support, we will shortlist locations for a potential trial. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and in local media for project updates.

Wonderful Youth Awards

What a privilege to be at the NOVO Youth Council Awards last week.

It was just so heartening to see so many young people willing to step up and take on leadership roles, to help out neighbours, donate their time to community causes and put in the extra effort to learn and excel.

Congratulations to the major award winners – Bayden Clayton, Bonnie Kelly, Brodi Purtill, Tiana Sixsmith, James Schifferle, Lachlan Carroll, Claire Barr and Ryan Bruton, and youth group award winners Robinvale P-12 College SRC and Bo’s Group from the Swan Hill FLO program.

Congratulations also to the NOVO Youth Council for putting on such a great awards program. We look forward to the next one in 2019.

Easter in our region

Easter is always a beautiful time to be in the Swan Hill and Robinvale regions. The weather is superb, the fish are hopefully biting and there are plenty of events to be part of.

At the Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement there are special Easter cruises on the Pyap, the always popular Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday and daily activities. The Gallery and Library have school holidays programs too, and you can learn to stand up paddleboard at Lake Boga.

At Robinvale, the Lawn Tennis Club is hosting its Easter tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

Go to www.visitswanhill.vic.gov.au for more information on events, or visit the Settlement, Gallery and Library websites for information on their holiday activities.

Of course, please stay safe on the roads if you’re travelling – take a break, keep your speed in check and don’t drink and drive. Remember safety when you’re on the water too by wearing a lifejacket, keeping an eye on children at all times and avoiding alcohol while boating or swimming.
