Residents’ input needed on Jaycee Park upgrade

Local residents will get to have their say and play a vital role in the redevelopment of Jaycee Park in Harrison Crescent, Swan Hill.

Local residents, Council and other service providers will work together to redevelop the space into a community park, after the project was highlighted in the City of Swan Hill’s Community Plan.

The first step will be a free ‘meet and greet’ barbecue at Jaycee Park on 24 May from 11.30am until 2pm. Local residents and park users of all ages are invited to share their views on how they would like to see the park developed and how they would like to use the space.

Mayor Michael Adamson said the project to redevelop Jaycee Park would be almost entirely community led.

“This project will happen in a similar way to George Lay Park – the local community and Council will work together to create the plans and then to implement them,” Cr Adamson said.

“I think everyone would agree that George Lay Park has become one of Swan Hill’s best open spaces and that was only possible because of the community’s hard work.

“With this process to be replicated at Jaycee Park, I think we can achieve another amazing area for both the nearby residents and the whole of the Swan Hill community. I encourage people to get involved now.”
